GOVERNMENT GOLFERS CUP

THE COMPETITION:
This is a golfing competition between employees of the City of Duluth and employees of other government entities in St Louis County. It will be contested in three events over the course of the summer, in “Ryder Cup” match-play format, without handicap.  

A traveling trophy will be awarded.  

EVENTS:
There will be three 18-hole match-play events, approximately 4 weeks apart, contested on area golf courses. Each event will consist of multiple matches between members from each team, in the formats listed below. All matches will be scored based on gross per hole, without handicap. Each match is worth one point to the winning team. Points will accumulate through the season to determine the winning team.  

Sunday, June 22, 2008. 1PM  Enger Park Golf Course, Front-Middle  
The format will be six 18-hole games of “Foursome” (an alternate shot match play format between two-player teams)   

Sunday, July 20, 2008.  1PM Lester Park Golf Course, Front -Lake
The format will be six18-hole games of “Four-ball” (match play between two-player teams, counting only the best score per hole for the team)  

 August 24, 2008. 1PM Nemadji Golf Course.  Barbecue afterwards, families welcome.
The format will be twelve 18-hole games of “Singles” match play.  (match play between two individual golfers)

TEAMS
Team membership is by invitation only. This is a skill-based competition, for low-handicap golfers. There are no handicap or gender restrictions. 

 All golfers for the Duluth City Team must be full-time employees who work, or retired full-time employees who worked for, the City of Duluth or one of its subsidiary authorities

 All golfers for the Other Government Regional Entities team must be full-time employees or retirees of St Louis County , a regional government Authority, the State of Minnesota , or the United States government, or an affiliated agency, who currently work or worked primarily within St Louis County .

Each team will provide 12 players for each event.  Alternate members are allowed… there is no requirement that the players be the same for each event.

 COSTS There will be no additional costs to the player, after normal course fees.
